“Keep Up with the Times or You’ll Be Left Behind”
The Berger family has been very successful with this philosophy for nearly 70 years – and now in the third generation of the national and international horse business.
Towards the end of the 1940s, Bernhard Berger took advantage of the times and began to deal with work horses.
By the end of the 1960’s when the demand for riding horses began, our operation increasingly concentrated on riding horses as well and we became one of the largest suppliers in Germany.
Along with the changing times, the horse world became more and more interested in sport horses. With this change as well, the Berger family was supported by the next upcoming generation in the person of Ignaz Berger who was born in 1955. Ignaz Berger mainly concentrated on dealing with sport horses – and he was very successful with this. It didn’t take too long before we had horses ranging from talented young sport horses all the way to international sport horses that could compete in advanced classes. And more and more often, these horses were also ridden at national and international shows by our employees. Up to this day, IB Berger is regularly represented at large shows such as the German Championships, various international shows (Toskana Tour, Sunshine Tour. etc.) with various horses and continues to supply top sport horses every year that are successfully ridden by customers in national and international competitions.
Now the third generation in the person Thomas Berger, born in 1991, is ready to enter the business. Along with the traditional top sport horse business, breeding and schooling of young horses has now also been included. Broodmares from the very best lines have been added and around 20 strictly selected foals are purchased each year. Several colts from our own first crops have meanwhile been licensed and our mares, some of which are also successful in sport, have won prizes at broodmare shows.
We always try to stay up to date and be a reliable partner for you.
